This beautiful medieval belt is directly inspired by a true 15th-century original that once belonged to the King Erik of Pomerania who ruled Kalmar Union from 1396 until 1439 (in modern-day Sweden, Denmark & Norway) and then the Duchy of Pomerania until he died in 1459. The belt buckle is beautifully reproduced in our workshop and even displays the motto of the King "Help ghot un maria nu altit" (God and Mary be our help at all times) just like the original one did! The popularity of such a design is confirmed by many other 15th-century sources showing similar belts used by men and women all around Europe at that time.
