Are you seeking the ideal helmet to complete your medieval knightly evocation costume? Look no further than the House of Warfare 14th century Bascinet! This helmet is historically inspired by various sources, including the Manuscript BNF Français 343 Queste del Saint Graal / Tristan de Léonois and BNF Latin 10483 Breviarium ad usum fratrum Predicatorum from 1323-1326. The Bascinet was originally created by adding a face plate to the iron hat that protected knights from attacks aimed at their face or forehead. Although the evolution of the backplate addressed many concerns, the flat top remained problematic until the 13th century when helmets adopted a conical top and a slenderer structure, proving more effective against spear and sword blows charged from above. This helmet is handmade from 16-gauge mild steel and is perfect for medieval evocation, medieval fair costume, reenactment, and protection during real-life combat situations. The interior is lined with padding to ensure a comfortable experience when worn, and the helmet possesses significant shock-absorbing properties. Moreover, the helmet has an inner circumference of 70cm, making it suitable for a large number of reenactors and medieval enthusiasts. The visor is movable and pivoted using side hinges. When opened, it is firmly held by a hook on one side.
